Joseba Garmendia

He has a degree in Biology and has been working since 2004 in the Department of Botany in the Society of Science Aranzadi. His main activity has been on the conservation of threatened plants in the Basque Country and bordering territories. In the last years, he was mainly in charge of the coordination and management of the technical and scientific activities of the Basque Vegetable Germplasm Bank. Within this field, he is working on the coordination of the activities of the Bank, the design of seed collecting campaigns and development of protocols for germination, cultivation, propagation and reintroduction of species that are in danger of extinction. Moreover, he is assessing several public entities on how to develop programmes about the conservation and recovery of threatened species and habitats.
